A bankrupt man's wife, Karen Williams, has established that her husband gave her his 50 per cent interest in the matrimonial home by an oral agreement when they separated many years before trustees in bankruptcy were appointed. Williams, acting as litigant in person, successfully challenged a March 2021 district court order, by producing a transcript of a financial remedy hearing that established the existence of either a common intention constructive trust or a proprietary estoppel in her favour.
